Grounding – What it is & what are the benefits?
Grounding, which is also known as ‘earthing’, is a therapeutic technique that focuses on your electrical energy by reconnecting to the earth.
Research has shown that connecting to the earth’s natural energy, by using methods such as walking barefoot on grass, sand, etc., can help improve physical and emotional health. It is typically said that people should aim to ground/ earth for 30 minutes each day to feel the benefits.
Benefits that grounding/ earthing have can include:
- Increasing energy and vitality
- Promote a deeper sleep
- Help to protect the body
In a study on grounding and the benefits that this can have on heart health, where 10 participants were grounded using patches on the soles of the feet and palms of their hands. The results indicated significantly less red blood cell clumping after grounding, suggesting benefits for cardiovascular health.
Many think that grounding simply means to be in the outdoors, however, types of grounding methods include:
- Walking barefoot
- Lying on the ground
- Submersing in water
- Using grounding devices
We are aware that many factors could affect your ability to get grounding each day, whether that be a busy schedule or the weather. So instead, you can use PEMF therapy devices to mimic the frequency that the earth naturally produces (7.83 Hz). You can implement many different PEMF devices into any routine, whether it’s a full-body PEMF mat or a localised PEMF device.
